‘Skyvibe’ Astrology Forecast for July 2023

By Krishna Dodds.

I cannot believe that we have reached the halfway point of the year already!

July offers a mixed and exciting astrological smorgasbord of cosmic happenings.

Although we are still in the watery realm of Cancer; July kicks off with a strong Capricorn Full Moon-motivating us to take stock of the first 6 months of the year, and to make any adjustments necessary to move towards the goals that we wish to work on for the remainder of the year.

If you recall; Pluto has recently made its way back into the sign of Capricorn-and although it isn’t forming an aspect to the Full Moon, it can add depth and passion to the themes that are present at this time.

As Capricorn is traditionally associated with our career and public life, there is a sense that something in this area will be brought to the fore-regardless of where Capricorn sits in your natal chart.

With Pluto in the mix, we may feel as if we would like to transform the work that we do. This could manifest as wanting to leave a position and starting anew with something that we feel more aligned with, or taking on more responsibility and showcasing our skills and ambition in a role that requires more from us.

Either way, there is a feeling that the Capricorn Full Moon will prompt us to undertake work that feels more connected and in alignment with our soul’s journey-as opposed to something where we just turn up and take home a wage every week.

Some questions to ask yourself throughout this lunar period, is how committed am I to making my professional dreams come true? What practical steps do I need to put into place to brings my goals to fruition? And am I ambitious enough to see it through?
Much progress can be made when we become clear about what we want and how we are going to get there!

On July the 10th, Mars visits the sign of Virgo for a 7 week stint. Mars has a great deal of stamina in this placement and can encourage us to be quite disciplined in our approach. This is a perfect combination with the Capricorn Full Moon, as it can help us to pay attention to details and start putting things into action.

Mercury-the communicator and verbal wizard of the zodiac-moves into the sign of the Leo on the 12th of July.

Think big ideas and big talk, and you’ll get the gist of how communication will unfold during this very short 17 day period.

Mercury in Leo can bless us with an increased capacity for creativity and may even encourage us to let our inner star out to play.

Imagination can be amped up with this placement, as can blowing one’s own trumpet. Although Mercury in Leo natives may come across as pompous and self-centred, they actually don’t mean any harm and can teach the rest of us about how to be confident and own all of who we are.

The Cancer New Moon rises at 25 degrees on the 17th or 18th (depending on where you reside on this beautiful planet) and can indicate a change in our personal or family life.

There may be a change around who we live with or where we live, or we may wish to connect with family on a much deeper level.

The energy of Cancer can be quite emotional and can often bring deeply buried feelings to the surface. It’s a great time to undertake any kind of work that connects us to our body and our emotions, and to spend time near bodies of water.

Sometimes having a good cry can be so cathartic and healing. If you have been holding onto anything and haven’t been able to release it-now is the perfect time to do so.

Cancer reminds us to nurture and nourish ourselves and our loved ones. Think of warm and yummy soups, hot baths, watching movies in your PJ’s, cooking up a storm with a family member, or putting on your favourite movie from childhood and watching it with someone that you love.

There can be an element of sentimentality that comes with this New Moon. So get out those photo albums, put on music that reminds you of a sibling, parent, grandparent etc.., and reach out to those you haven’t connected with in a while.

The water element of Cancer can help us connect more deeply with our intuition. So pay attention to gut feelings, the sense of “just knowing” something, and your dreams. They are all pathways to the soul and their presence can offer messages of wisdom and clarity.

The Cancer New Moon is a great time to strengthen your emotional support system and offer the same in return to those close to you.

The Sun moves into Leo on the same day that Venus begins her two month retrograde period.

The Sun in Leo is the centre of its own universe, LOVES attention, and LOVES being adored by others.

The Sun in our charts indicates where we stand out.

Venus indicates the “other” or those we relate to or have relationships with.

These two coming together on the same day gives the impression that we may need to think about someone else’s needs-or at least give ourselves the space to consider where others are sitting in our circle and how these connections are supporting us-and just as importantly, how are they supporting the other person.

Are our connections allowing us to shine? Are we allowing our partner to shine? Or are our insecurities playing a part in keeping them small or clipping their wings-or vice versa.

As Venus begins her descent into the underworld of our inner terrain, our most intimate and important connections will be brought to the fore to be examined.

I just want to add before I go any further; that the planets are not to blame for anything that goes topsy-turvy in your world.

Generally a retrograde or any other planetary movement will bring pre-existing problems to the light.

You know, the ones that we ignore or push down because they are in the “too hard basket.”

Venus retrograde gives us the opportunity to re-examine our relationships and the recurring issues that are playing out.

In Leo, we may need to look at the ways that we are stubborn or too proud. Are we able to say sorry (I know this can be hard for fixed signs), and initiate repair work? Are we able to drop our pride and accept responsibility for shitty behaviour? Are we able to swap stubbornness for vulnerability and therefore be accountable for our part within the dynamic? Are we able to have compassion and empathy and see the situation from another’s view point instead of fiercely holding onto our own viewpoint?

This can be extremely difficult! Especially in the sign of Leo where the ego can come into play and lash out when it is hurting or feeling called out.

As Leo can represent our inner child, we may find that this retrograde period puts us in touch with aspects of ourselves that are still wounded. This can offer incredible insight into why we bring certain behaviours into our adult relationships.

The more we can work on healing ourselves, the more we can improve upon our external connections.

As Venus also rules finances, we may find that the retrograde period offers the chance for a do-over in this area.

Venus is retrograde for two months and is in the sign of Leo until the 10th of October.

That will give us plenty of time to reflect upon the areas mentioned above and make the changes necessary to have a better quality of relationship with ourselves, those we love, and money.

Patience and understanding are key throughout this period.

July ends with Mercury moving into Virgo on the 29th. This placement brings discipline and focus and can help us become aware of details that we may have overlooked previously.

It’s a perfect time to get things in order before Mercury heads into retrograde motion during the last week of August.

As always, I wish you ease and grace as you move through the cosmic terrain that is July.

May you gain the insights and clarity that you need to move forward in a way that aligns with your highest self and soul.

Bright blessings,
Krishna
