“Zoom Out”

‘Skyvibe’ Astrology Forecast for December 2023

Krishna Dodds

December offers some interesting cosmic flavours that will help us to reflect upon where we are currently, and how we can set ourselves up for success as we move into 2024.

Capricorn and Sagittarius are the main players of the month, with a sprinkling of Mercury Retrograde to keeps us on our toes, and an emotion invoking Full Moon in Cancer to keep the Christmas period interesting.

Mercury moves into earth sign Capricorn on the 2nd of December-switching our focus to a more practical way of viewing the world.

Our attention moves to our goals and responsibilities, and the steps we can put into place to work smarter.

There is an issue though. Mercury is in its pre-shadow phase before the retrograde cycle begins on the 14th of December.

This indicates that we may be questioning our direction and what we are involved in career wise.

We may have even made decisions around this area, only to have doubts pop up.

From the 14th through to the 24th of December, take some time out to reflect upon your career and whether it aligns with your life purpose.

When Mercury heads back into Sagittarius on the 24th, we have the ability to “zoom out” and look at our situation from a higher perspective. This is where we can check into see whether what we do for work is resonating with our inner truth.

It is important to try to culminate some space and an open mind until the 21st of January-when Mercury clears the post shadow phase of the retrograde period.
While our mental faculties may feel as if they are off line and limited, our intuition steps up and becomes stronger.

Listen to your gut feelings throughout this phase, as they can open you up to possibilities that an overburdened monkey mind cannot deliver.

Venus moves into the transformative sign of Scorpio on the 5th of December and will support us in expressing our desires and being open to deeper and more intimate connections.

Venus in this placement can link us more deeply to our values and renew our passionate nature.

During this twenty five day phase, we may find it easier to tune into what we are looking for within our connections with others, and how much of ourselves we are willing to share.

Scorpio can be a paradox unto itself; as it likes to remain private and unseen, yet also craves to relate on a level that goes way beyond the superficial.

While it will be easy to feel attracted to others throughout this phase, don’t let desire and attraction bond you to someone who isn’t compatible in other ways.

Use the period to reflect upon the traits that you have to offer, and the traits that you find appealing in others.

This is a great time to spice up your appearance and feel more alluring within yourself.

Neptune stations direct on the 7th of December after just over five months in its retrograde cycle.

Anything that has been unclear, or you have felt disillusioned by since the beginning of July, should slowly start to make more sense as the fog begins to lift.

Neptune won’t clear the shadow phase until the 26th of March 2024, yet the missing pieces of the metaphorical puzzle will start to reveal themselves as Neptune slowly progresses upwards through the degrees of Pisces.

Neptune turning direct during the month of Capricorn indicates that it’s time to come back to reality, take responsibility for ourselves, and cultivate a plan that will support us in moving forward and creating structure.

Capricorn encourages us to bring form to the unseen and stop using escapism as an obstacle to create something tangible in the material world.

A balance between the spiritual and physical worlds can be achieved when these two energies meet.

The New Moon rises at 20 degrees of Sagittarius on the 13th of December.

This lunation brings optimism and hope, and the sense that something amazing is on the horizon!

After traversing our inner world during the season of Scorpio, the New Moon gives us the opportunity to expand upon what we learnt while in the underworld.

The Saggy New Moon can bring an element of fun and adventure and will encourage us to expand upon our ideas.

This is where we can take the mundane and turn it into something BIG!

If you have contemplating travelling, delving further into different belief systems or embarking on a course of study-this is the perfect time to set the wheels in motion!

Neptune is forming a square to the New Moon which indicates something may be stopping us from seeing our intentions clearly.

There also may be feelings of confusion and increased sensitivity.

Be as clear as possible with your New Moon wishes and know that it’s more than ok to retreat into your own space if that’s what you’re feeling prompted to do. Time alone can help us shut out the external noise and focus on our innermost thoughts and feelings-which is important when we are considering what we would like to call into being.

Mercury moves into the retrograde cycle the day after the New Moon and things may feel like they are on hold or aren’t gaining momentum.

Take this time to reflect upon and review your intentions and what you are hoping to bring to fruition throughout this phase.

While delays can be frustrating; they also give us the opportunity to decide whether we need to make any adjustments and if we need more information before proceeding.

Mercury is at the critical point of 29 degrees of Sagittarius on the 1st and the 24th of December, and again on the 14th of January.

This indicates that we may be prone to indecision and overthinking.

My suggestion here is to not make any major decisions. Give yourself time to let things unfold, allow yourself to see things from a bigger picture perspective, and trust the intuitive hits that you receive.

Trying to sort everything out with our minds can lead to mental exhaustion. Sometimes we aren’t meant to know the answers straight away. We need to have faith and trust that we will be led in the direction that is most aligned with us-especially if we are listening to our inner wisdom.

The full picture should start to become clearer around the 21st of January when Mercury completely clears the post shadow phase of the retrograde cycle.

The Sun makes a move into Capricorn on the 23rd of December, bringing our focus back to our goals and career.

As Mercury leaves Capricorn on the 24th of December, we may now find that we have a sense of clarity around the above areas and are feeling motivated to make a solid plan.

Saturn ruled Capricorn wants us to get down to business and commit to something that will bring structure now and in the future.

This is where we “buckle down” and discipline ourselves to start projects and see them through to completion.

Whatever those projects are will be influenced by where Capricorn resides in your personal chart. It could be a relationship, it could be your health and wellbeing, or it might be the traditional 10th house Capricorn rulership of career and life purpose.

However this turns up for you-know this. Capricorn is asking you to get serious about a person, your body, a situation..etc

Reflect upon where you have been skirting the edges of something and whether it would serve you well to dive in more deeply and solidly dedicate yourself to it.

The last Full Moon of the year rises at 5 degrees in her home sign of Cancer on the 27th of December.

It’s always interesting to me that the FM in Cancer occurs during the Christmas phase when we are typically catching up with family and our feelings may be heightened.

The Full Moon often represents the culmination of a cycle or a resolution taking place.

We don’t need to let things bubble under the surface and spurt out like a hot bottle of champagne to get to this point. We can get there by other means.

Check in with yourself and how you are feeling. If there are triggers around seeing a certain someone, put a strategy into place that you can use so that you’re not reacting to them. Set boundaries with others. “I don’t want to talk about this today”, or “this is not the time to have this conversation.”

Make a plan. If your boundaries are not respected, take a break or leave.

These suggestions don’t just relate to the Christmas period…they can be used at any time.

I am specifically bringing them up now due to the intense energies that are present at a time when lots of people come together…especially as it’s the end of the year and many of us are exhausted.

Even though the Moon isn’t full on Christmas day, she is will be building up to that point in her waxing phase.

Cancer reminds us to be nurturing and kind to ourselves and others. Quite often it appears that humans find it easier to extend these qualities outwards instead of inwards.

Ask yourself what you need throughout this holiday season. What would make you feel nourished and safe?

It can be a highly sensitive time-especially with the holiday period added to the mix.

Working out what you need in any situation can go a long way in changing the dynamic of time spent with others.

This can be a very enlightening period…and we may even find that we understand our family dynamics more and why certain things have come to pass.

This blesses us with awareness and the ability to change things within ourselves that we no longer want to be part of our narrative.

Share your time with loved ones by all means. Then fill your cup with all the things that will bring you back to fullness.

And just when it feels like December is becoming too heavy and serious, Venus makes her move into Sagittarius on the 30th and Jupiter (the ruler of Saggy), stations direct on December 31st/January 1st (depending on where you are in the world), after being in retrograde motion for almost four months.

Hooray for Jupiter vibes!!

Although it will take some time for Jupiter to leave the post shadow phase (the 23rd of March 2024, to be exact), now we can start to sense and see new opportunities.

All of things that have been put on hold while Jupiter was retrograde should start to move again.

There is a renewed sense of optimism and a drive to expand our worlds through travel, new adventures and information that can help our inner wisdom to grow.

Sagittarius is fun loving, free spirited and loves to take risks and discover new horizons.

I can’t think of a more perfect way to end the year than on the promise of all the good things that are yet to come!

We’ve put in the hard work…now it’s time to reap the rewards!

Wishing you cosmic blessings and stardust dreams as we farewell 2023, and welcome in 2024.
