May: A Mixed Bag of Blessings

‘Skyvibe’ Astrology Forecast for May 2023

By Krishna Dodds.

May comes bearing gifts of the “mixed bag” kind!

This month the planets are giving us the opportunity to bring transformation to our world.

When aren’t they though!!

The first half of May brings a baptism of fire, so to speak.

Yet the possible challenges of the first two weeks of the month, will make way for new developments and a fast paced energy in the second half of the month.

Buckle up…because we’re about to hit the rollercoaster section of the amusement park!

The month starts with power planet Pluto moving into retrograde motion for just over 5 months.

If you recall, Pluto has only recently moved into Aquarius after a very long stint in Capricorn.

Pluto in direct motion can bring massive changes…yet the retrograde phase can bring life altering events.

Pluto moved into Aquarius towards the end of March and within the last 6 weeks has given us the ability to view the future that we would like to see unfold.

You may have had glimpses of hope for a better world-both personally and collectively…and felt empowered to start living life on your own terms.

The retrograde phase of Pluto indicates that something hasn’t been completely finalised or brought to a natural ending.

Pluto will only move back a few degrees (switching back to Capricorn in mid-June), yet can show us where situations, restrictions, or issues that were prominent from March 2022 onwards may need to be revisited.

Add to the mix the lunar eclipse in Scorpio on 5th/6th May(depending on your location on Earth)… and you have one very potent brewing pot.

Pluto is the modern day ruler of Scorpio and gives us a double serving of intensity in the first week of May.

The lunar eclipse in Scorpio brings to light the deep and the dark. This is where shadows are illuminated and brought into our consciousness so that they can be dismantled and healed.

Scorpio combined with the eclipse energy can fuel our emotional nature to the point where we feel overwhelmed or like we are drowning in emotions.

It is the perfect time to release anything that has been supressed and allow yourself to open up the floodgates of feeling.

A possibility around this time is that we feel a strong urge to release toxic and negative bonds from our world. These energies may be from our external attachments or may be from our own auric field. The heightened intuitive influence of this lunar phase will help you to tune into what it might be for you.

There can be ambivalent feelings brought to the fore at this time, as the eclipse/full moon encourages us to let go and bring things to a conclusion, while Scorpio (being a fixed sign), hangs onto that which is familiar and safe.

Surrender will be key throughout this phase. As will be giving ourselves the space to let whatever needs to unfold happen organically.

What is for you will not go by you… meaning that we need to trust that the universe and our intuition will always guide us to people, places, and situations that are supporting our next growth step.

Release what no longer feels aligned with you and know that life will provide with what you need for the next part of your journey.

Now…having shared all of the above… there is a caveat.

Mercury in retrograde motion in Taurus, is opposing the lunar eclipse, so we may feel a double dose of the fixed energy I was talking about a few paragraphs ago.

There is kind of a push/pull vibe happening here. With one part of us champing at the bit to start bringing deep change to our worlds, and another part of us hanging on for dear life.

Fear is often a major factor in hanging onto what is familiar. Yet familiarity can cause stagnation and feelings of frustration.

Use this period of time to examine what is coming up for you. Changes don’t need to be massive to be impactful. You can start small and go from there.

Remember that the caterpillar is in the cocoon for a period of time before emerging as the butterfly.

We too can take our time when implementing changes into our lives. The difference between stagnation and freedom is the willingness to take the first step.

So, a question you might like to ask yourself during the first half of May is “am I willing to move?” If so, examine what that looks like for you, and what you need to do to bring this movement to fruition.

If all of this sounds like a little too much…remember that Pluto is in retrograde motion for 5 months.

All of the above may unfold over a period of time-with the eclipse being the torch that shines a light on where your focus needs to be.

Venus makes its ingress into Cancer on May the 8th, turning our attention towards our home and family life. We may favour staying in our own environment over the next four weeks; with socialising either coming to a halt completely, or exclusively taking place in the home.

There may be a sense of sentimentality as we turn our focus towards our loved ones and the memories that we have created with them.

Venus in Cancer amps up our tendency to nurture everyone that comes into our orbit, yet we need to make sure that we are extending that same care toward ourselves.

There is a tendency to become clingy and insecure with this placement, so make sure that you give your loved ones the space they require.

Balance as always, is the key.

Mercury stations direct on May 15th and heralds the return of our capacity to focus ahead (instead of backwards) and take the insights that we’ve gleaned during the retrograde period and use them to our advantage.

On the 16th of May Jupiter activates the degree of the Aries solar eclipse from 20th April and gives us the motivation and determination to get behind our ideas and turn them into new and exciting ventures. Whatever was started or thought of around that time, should start to gain momentum with a big whoosh of energy now.

As Jupiter is at the anaretic degree of 29, there is a kind of a “now or never” feel to this day.

The very next day, Jupiter makes the moves into Taurus and will support us in cementing our Jupiter/Solar Eclipse in Aries plans, ideas, and thoughts into the physical world.

Jupiter in Taurus can also help us to become more grounded, increase our connection to the earth and the elements, honour our physical body by supporting it with nourishing food and self-care, and create financial security and stability.

Consistency and productivity, while being open to different pathways to expand our earning capacity, will be our strongest ally throughout this 12 month period.

The Taurus New Moon on the 19th/ 20th is one of excitement, as it joins with Jupiter in the same sign.

While not forming an actual aspect, there is a sense of positivity around what we can call in through the proverbial seeds that we plant.
This New Moon will bring our attention to what it is that we value the most. In Taurus, this will quite often centre around our financial security and what we are doing to generate an income.

I know that a lot of us have been taught to feel shameful about money and what it is that we would truly like to have on the physical realm.

Use this New Moon to check in with what your relationship with money is like, and whether your current employment pays you enough to support the lifestyle you wish to have.

I’m not talking about being over the top and trying to manifest 10 million dollars. (If that’s your jam and true desire though, go ahead!)
What I’m talking about is tuning into yourself and ascertaining your worth and whether the work that you are doing reflects how you feel about yourself?

Is it providing you with the ability to indulge sometimes, and to have the comforts that you like?

Are you staying in a job because it gets you by financially, yet offers no room for growth?

Venus-the ruler of Taurus-can teach us how to love and value ourselves. If you think you aren’t worth that much, others will tend to agree.

The key to abundance is knowing that we are worthy enough to have whatever it is that we desire.

Take an honest look at where you are in relation to the above, and perhaps make a 6-12 month plan that utilises the productivity and stability of the Taurus energy.

On the 21st and 22nd of May, Mars enters Leo, and the Sun moves into Gemini.

Mars in Leo is the star of its own show! This is an attention seeking energy, that is also charismatic and driven.

If you’ve been needing a boost in confidence personally or professionally, hold onto this energy with both hands.

Mars in the sign of the Lion encourages play, creativity and enthusiasm. There is also a strong urge to seek the pleasures in life.

If the first half of the month has been too serious and a little ho-hum; now is the chance to get out there and let your spirit shine!

And last, but by certainly no means least, we have the Sun shining its light on the constellation of Gemini.

Gemini is light-hearted and seeks connection through communication. Gemini will talk your ears off with a myriad of information that can leave your head spinning. Gemini seeks interesting conversations with ANYONE that they have a sense of acquaintance with.

So…if you’ve been feeling down or overwhelmed or a bit meh…now is the time to shake off the cobwebs and invite some childlike fun and shenanigans into your world.

Call up a friend or two, plan a short trip, arrange a catch up on Zoom or Facebook Messenger. Enrol into a short course, learn something new, hang out with your siblings.

Gemini’s are curious explorers and seekers of fun.

And I can’t think of a better way to end the month than with a sprinkling of Peter Pan energy to take us into the realms of imagination to remind us that magic still exists.

Wishing you cosmic blessings as you traverse the planetary landscape of May.

Celestial blessings,
Krishna
