September’s Cosmic Currents: Inner Awakenings & Emotional Eclipses

‘Skyvibe’ Astrology Forecast for September 2024

By Krishna Dodds.

September kicks off with Uranus, the planet of mayhem and liberation beginning its retrograde period on the 2nd, and Pluto, (the tiny planet that packs a big punch), heading back into the late degrees of Capricorn on the 3rd.

Uranus retrograde can bring a rollercoaster of experiences. We may feel restricted and find that certain situations aren’t allowing for the movement that we require or desire.

This is because the energy shifts from external changes to internal discoveries.

While the chaos and unexpected events that Uranus can bring while in direct motion will slow down, we can expect to have a “great awakening” on an inner level as we come into contact with those parts of ourselves that stop us from being the unique souls that we are.

The Uranus retrograde period gives us the capacity to see ourselves and life through a new lens and to embrace freedom on all levels.

A great question to ask ourselves while Uranus is in retrograde motion is, “how do I want to live my life, and what does living life on my own terms look like?”

As Uranus is currently transiting Taurus, we may find that we want to break away from structures that support us financially yet stop us from going after what we really want.

We may also find that our perception of beauty changes.

Uranus is in retrograde motion until the end of January 2025.

Use this time to allow for growth, change, and evolution on an inner level.

As above, so below. We can’t change our external world if we’re approaching it with a limited or fixed mindset.

Pluto revisiting Capricorn offers us the chance to make right anything that was occurring the last time these two came together in the cosmos.

March the 18th and June the 12th 2023, and the 20th of January 2024, are prominent dates.

Cast your mind back to these times and what was taking place. Has everything been finalised or is there still something that needs to be laid to rest? Did something BIG occur in your world? Something perhaps that you’d like to bring resolution to.

As Pluto is the planet of life, death, and rebirth, we may discover that something is transformed and returned to us, or that it comes to an end once and for all-allowing us to move on and embrace new energies.

Capricorn oversees career, direction, and responsibilities in astrology, so perhaps these themes will be important for you.

If not, look to your own chart to see where the above may be playing out in your life.

By November the 19th, we should have a clearer picture regarding what we are letting go of and what we are embracing as we move forward into a new era.

The New Moon at 11 degrees of Virgo brings her magic into the mix on the 3rd of September by blessing us with organisation, attention to detail, and the ability to ground ourselves in practical matters. This can be super helpful and comforting when there are lots of big energies around. (We’re looking at you Uranus and Pluto!)

If you are someone who makes New Moon wishes, this is the perfect time to work towards more vibrant health and daily routines that support your wellbeing.

Virgo energy can often be self-critical and over analytical-to the point of becoming frozen.

If this sounds like behaviour that you engage in, the New Moon can help you to find ways to show yourself self-compassion and quieten your mind.

Reframing your thoughts and inner dialogue and showing yourself love and gratitude can work wonders for any harsh words that you may be speaking to yourself.

Meditation can help turn down the volume of the mind, and in turn, allow the whispers of the soul to come through more strongly.

As Saturn is opposing the New Moon, we may find that our wishes are somewhat slow off the mark and have a sense of responsibility that goes with them. Saturn also poses the question, “how committed are you to creating this new beginning?”

There is a sense around this new lunar phase that we need to knuckle down and work hard if we want to see the outcomes that we desire.

The great news is that whatever may have halted or been delayed while Mercury was in the retrograde phase in August, can now start to gain momentum again-especially around the 13th of September.

With a little patience and perseverance, you may start to see the beginnings of signs of new life. Which matches up perfectly to the upcoming season of Spring here in the southern hemisphere.

Mars makes a move into Cancer on the 5th of September for approximately two months.

The combination of this planet and sign couldn’t be more different, yet they will motivate us to take action around matters that pertain to the home and family.

On the external level this could manifest as renovations or tidying things up around the home.

On an internal level, our attention may be drawn to unresolved conflicts or wounds that have a familial or ancestral feel to them.

Mars in Cancer can be quite explosive-as Mars agitates what has been buried deeply in the caverns of the protective crab shell.

Watch where you are lashing out and being reactive to gain a clearer understanding of what needs to be acknowledged and healed.

The watery influence of Cancer can dampen the fiery energy of Mars; so if you feel lethargic or like you don’t have as much energy as you usually do-let yourself rest.

It’s a great time to build up your resources before Mars moves into the big and bold sign of Leo in November.

On the 18th of September a Full Moon Eclipse or Lunar Eclipse rises at 25 degrees of Pisces.

This is indicative of a cycle coming to an end or a door closing.

As the eclipse is making a connection to both Neptune and Saturn (a very wide conjunction, yet still worth mentioning), there is a sense that something needs to be released once and for all.

Saturn is about structure and building foundations, whereas Neptune is akin to formlessness and embracing the unseen.

Saturn is currently in retrograde motion and is asking us to be cognizant of the lessons that are coming our way. Are we learning from them or just going around in circles like Groundhog Day? Do we need to shift something to bring finality to these lessons?

Neptune is also in retrograde motion and can give us the ability to “see our gaps” and what we have been avoiding on an inner level. This can come through in the dreaming realm or as intuitive messages, or the felt senses.

As Pisces rules the 12th house of the chart and is the end point before the chart begins again with Aries, we are being asked to delve deeper and admit to ourselves what isn’t working.

This could be unsupportive habits, addictions, incompatible relationships, wearing rose coloured glasses to avoid looking at what we don’t want to acknowledge.

This can be a tough time! It’s not easy to let go of a dream that you held dear or familiar behaviours.

Yet once the release occurs, we create space for more aligned people, experiences and situations to come into our world.

You may feel tired throughout this period, so take the time to rest and replenish and find places of solitude where you can.

Also, be mindful of your energy field and what you’re taking on.

Spiritual hygiene is a must! Cleanse your personal and physical spaces regularly.

The Sun moves into Libra on the 23rd of September, followed by Mercury on the 28th.

Our focus now turns to our relationships, the desire to create harmonious connections, resolving disputes with negotiations, and finding and maintaining balance.

Libra is the peacekeeper of the zodiac and will use their powers of diplomacy to make sure that their relationships and their environments are as conflict free as possible.

This is not done by “maintaining peace at all costs.” Or sweeping things under the carpet. (We all know that the proverbial dust and debris will emerge again, usually at some inopportune point!)

The best way to create harmony is by employing the air aspect of Libra and using the power of communication and kindness when relating to others.

An important aspect of communication is deep listening. Hearing what the other person has to say.

If we can remember this within our interactions, then we’re well on our way to enjoying more loving and balanced connections.

The love fest continues with Venus making her move into Scorpio on the 25th of September.

Venus in Scorpio wants to engage in deeper connections. She may also want commitment.

This is an intense placement-one that can bring up jealousy and control.

One thing is for certain! Venus in Scorpio will bring a depth and fire to all that she sets her sights on. No matter how brief.

If you’ve been feeling a bit ho-hum or like your life force energy is lagging, utilise the influence of Venus in Scorpio to help you tap into your passionate nature and embrace your desires.

And there you have it my friends.

A month of surrender and big WATER energy.

It’s in the letting go that we can have that breath of relief because we are no longer carrying what is weighing us down.

Let yourself cry, move, and flow through the month in whatever way works for you.

And…listen to your gut. Intuition is heightened this month. Many of the messages you receive throughout September will come from within-not your head.

Sending love and cosmic blessings as we navigate yet another month of growth and evolution.
