Don’t Hide Your Light Under a Bushel

‘Skyvibe’ Astrology Forecast for August 2020

By Krishna Dodds

August brings a long overdue change in energy, with the Sun, Mercury, and New Moon in the sign of Leo.
If I had to use some keywords to focus on for the month; it would be FUN and FREEDOM!!

We also have zero eclipses this month, and only one outer planet beginning its retrograde journey.

Personal planets Mercury and Venus have cleared the shadow phase of their retrograde phase and are now moving ahead nicely.

August kicks off with a Full Moon in the eccentric sign of Aquarius. This will take place on the 3rd/4th of the month-depending on where you live in the world-and will be at 11 degrees of Aquarius.

This is a moon that encourages independence, change, and the freedom to think and act for ourselves.

The Waterbearer is the changemaker of the zodiac; this combined with the energy of La Bella Luna at her peak can bring unexpected situations, unpredictable behaviour and emotions, and the need to bust out of situations that stifle our life force in any way.

Areas of our lives to be aware of at this time are: friendships, any groups and organisations that we belong to-this can also include group thinking, and reflecting upon how we as individuals can make a positive contribution towards the collective.

Aquarius reminds us to honour the differences in ourselves and others, and to be aware that even though our beliefs and opinions may not always meet in the middle, we can still embrace what we love about those who matter to us.

As Aquarius is an air sign (which rules communication) there may be unexpected news during the Full Moon phase.

Uranus ruled Aquarius can create an electric or buzzy feeling, so it’s paramount that we attend to our nervous system and utilise a grounding technique to help keep us centred and balanced throughout this time.

Mercury will move into the sign of the Lion on August 4th, turning our attention toward love, romance, and creative pursuits.

Leo has a flair for the dramatic, so don’t be surprised if you feel drawn to express yourself through dance, song, amateur acting, or some sort of artistic pursuit.

Leo is playful and reminds us to connect to our inner child and enjoy life.

After the seriousness of the past few months, it is important that we find joyful ways to express ourselves. Even if it is as simple as going to a park and playing on the swings.

Leo can be quite stubborn and a bit of a “know it all” at times, so remember this when engaging with others.

Sometimes we need to swallow our pride, and listen to what others have to say, without talking over the top of them with an “I know best” attitude.

Thankfully, the move of Venus into water sign Cancer of August 8th, can placate some of the Leo fire.

Venus in this placement wants to relate harmoniously and relies on intuition and felt senses when interacting with others.

Our focus turns to our home life and caring for ourselves and others.

Venus in Cancer values comfort, family connections, comfortable clothing (preferably pyjamas) and being warm and well fed.

This will provide a much-needed respite after the heady Venus in Gemini placement that was prominent from April through to early August.

It is time to nurture ourselves, and give our mind, body, and spirit, some deep rest.

As the element of water can easily pick up on the vibrations in their surrounding environments, it will pay to me mindful of who and what you allow into your personal space.

While it may be tempting to expand your caring energy out to others, know that you can only do this healthily when your cup is already overflowing.

Food for thought.

August 13th sees Mars making a hard aspect with transpersonal planet, Pluto.

Pluto brings about the metaphorical death of the old, and its place, something new is born.

The Mars/Pluto combination holds themes around power, and if we are reflective enough throughout this heightened time, it can show us the source of any deep-seated anger we might be holding onto.

Mars in its home sign of Aries can definitely give us a feisty and impatient attitude-which we may not think twice about acting upon.

Yet if we can explore where those angry feelings are coming from and where they are felt in our body, we give ourselves the opportunity to transform and heal them.

The power I spoke about a few sentences back, relates to personal power. When we know ourselves deeply enough to be aware of our triggers and how we can self-regulate, then we stand solid in our sense of self and our inner power.
On the 16th, Uranus-the ruler of this month’s Full Moon-begins a five-month retrograde cycle that will continue into January 2021.

As Uranus is in the fixed sign of Taurus, I believe that this retrograde phase is a sign that we may have become too comfortable in certain areas of our lives. While ruts can be familiar and comforting, they can also be restricting and stagnating.

You will need to look to your own chart to see what parts of your life are crying out for change. Uranus can be forceful and unpredictable, so if we don’t initiate the changes that we need to continue our soul growth, we may be pushed into it.

As Uranus is making an impact on this month’s Full Moon, I would go as far as saying that something on an emotional level needs to be looked at.

The best way to work with Uranus is by being flexible and adaptable. If change is something that scares you-take baby steps.

It doesn’t have to be impulsive and chaotic-unless of course you want it to be.

“I let go of control and open myself up to new ways of being” is a perfect mantra to recite throughout this time.
The Lion graces us with his/her presence on August 20th, with the New Moon at 26 degrees of Leo.

This is a perfect time to co-create with the universe to bring about fun, joy, play, expression, creativity, romance, and a closer bond with your partner and/or children.

The fire element is uplifting to the spirit and inspires us to create the life we wish to live.

On the 21st and 23rd respectively, Mercury and the Sun move into the sign of Virgo.
This signifies a time of hard work and getting organised.

Virgo loves to write lists and to have everything neatly compartmentalised.

Sooooo… if you have been putting off packing up those old clothes, paying bills, getting your car serviced etc… now is the time to make a move and get it done.

Virgo is ruled by the planet Mercury, so there may be some mental gymnastics taking place throughout this phase.

Try not to tie yourself up in knots with your thoughts, and employ practical measures such as meditation, yoga, and walks in nature, to soothe an overactive nervous system.

Worry only amounts to increased anxiety-whereas problem-solving will help you achieve your goals.

Remember that there are solutions to most things.
